Steve Imperato

Steve has thirty years of fundraising experience in large and small non-profits in the fields of healthcare, higher education, the arts, culture and human services. He brings extensive experience in capital campaigns, board and volunteer development and training, and major gift development, as well as fundraising planning.

Steve has held the position of chief development officer at Richmond Memorial Hospital and Staten Island University Hospital, where he was responsible for communications, strategic marketing, public relations, volunteer recruitment and development and government relations. He has also served as trustee on several non-profit boards, including the Staten Island Council on the Arts, where he provided leadership in the areas of finance, investment and human resource management.

For more than fifteen years he worked at Community Counselling Service. As an executive responsible for the planning and implementation of large capital campaigns, he provided planned giving consulting services throughout the United States to such clients as St. John’s University, United Way of New York City, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Steve was responsible for the ongoing fundraising education of the professional staff of over two hundred practitioners.

Steve specializes in planned giving development, presenting seminars on the power of planned gifts, melding gift planning with ongoing major gift development, and designing and implementing planned giving campaigns. He has worked with organizations large and small, from Habitat for Humanity International to Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, New York, to community-based non-profits, such as schools, religious organizations and cultural groups.

A graduate of Wagner College, Steve lives with his wife, Rosemary, and their family in Staten Island, New York.
