The largest expense for an organization is its people, yet many small to mid-size nonprofits cannot afford a dedicated human resources professional to help them attract, retain and engage staff. Karen Bradunas has over 22 years of human resources experience and has been working with organizations to define best practices for their needs. Since 2005, Karen Bradunas Human Resources Consulting has been designing and implementing customized human resources solutions to assist organizations in managing their people to meet their business objectives.

Karen and I have had many meetings and I would not hesitate to refer her to my clients. She is a true expert. For a free consultation to see how she might help you, contact her at Karen@KMBradunas.com or 212-304-9146.

Planned Giving

I wrote a six-article series for GuideStar, "Make 2010 The Year YOU Start Planned Giving." While it's too late to comply with the title, it's never too late to start your program—and always a good time to reinforce basics. Here's the last in the series, with links to all others.

Brush up on the Charitable IRA Rollover, good this year only. That's the how-it-works article.

Are you promoting IRA Rollover gifts? Here's the marketing side.

I do a lot of speaking and training. Here are my slides from Demystifying Planned Giving for Rabbinical Assembly.

Can I help your conference or office understand Planned Giving? Let's talk.

Charity Registration

What is Charity Registration? I wrote an article for the journal Taxation of Exempts that lays it all out.

Prefer an explanation in bullet points? Here are my slides from Demystifying Charity Registration for the Western Mass. chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). That was an icy, cold, January day in Holyoke. They were a warm group. Thanks for hosting me!

A New York nonprofit got caught for failure to comply with CR laws in New Jersey. That's a first. All other enforcement actions I've seen have been in the charity's home state. It all started with a used car salesman.

Can I demystify Charity Registration for you at a conference or in an office? Let's talk.

My practice includes doing registrations for nonprofits, from just a few states to all fifty. The real work is done by Cary, Registration Manager and Melissa, Registration Assistant. Let's talk.

Prefer to take on registration work in-house? Some really nice people say some really nice things about this book I wrote, Charity Registration: State-by-State Guidelines for Compliance.
